Essential Oils for Hemorrhoids
Hemorrhoids, also called piles, are swollen and inflamed veins in the anus and lower rectum. About 75% of us will experience hemorrhoids at some point in our lives, and approximately 50% of adults over the age of 50 have hemorrhoids.
The most common symptom of internal hemorrhoids is bright red blood on stool, on toilet paper, or in the toilet bowl after a bowel movement. Internal hemorrhoids that are not prolapsed (protruding from the rectum) are usually not painful. Prolapsed hemorrhoids often cause pain, discomfort, and anal itching.

Heal Hemorrhoids with Essential Oil Suppositories
By using 5-10 drops of OHN Hemorrhoid Essential Oil Blend in a nightly suppository, you will assist your body to heal from hemorrhoids. Use this oil blend daily for 2 weeks, and then as needed.
An essential oil suppository using coconut oil as a carrier oil is a therapeutic delivery system that is inserted into the rectum, where it melts and offers healing to the rectal area. Regular use of these suppositories is a useful addition to your home enema program if you struggle with hemorrhoids and/or if you wish to avoid hemorrhoids altogether.

Hygiene Considerations and Tissue Support
Be sure to keep the area around the hemorrhoid(s) as clean as possible. We recommend bathing with Optimal Health Network's Frankincense and Myrrh Goat Milk Soap, which is rich in therapeutic butyric acid, helping to reduce inflammation in the rectal area.
You can also apply all-natural Super Salve topically after bathing to help soothe rectal discomfort and itching and nourish the affected tissue. Super Salve is most effective for external hemorrhoids.
Alternation of Oils for Severe Hemorrhoids
For more severe cases of hemorrhoids, a nightly alternation between an OHN Hemorrhoid Essential Oil Blend suppository (5-10 drops each) and a Lime Essential Oil suppository (5-10 drops each) can be more effective than either oil recipe alone. Prepare several of each type in your suppository tray ahead of time, then alternate nightly between the two.

Therapeutic Advantages of Using Suppositories
According to drug delivery research by the National Institutes of Health, because the colon is highly absorptive, suppositories have several advantages over other delivery methods, including increasing bioavailability to absorbable tissue, bypassing first pass metabolism, the ability to deliver higher doses of drug or therapeutic essential oils, and avoidance of irritation to the gastric mucosa. Furthermore, suppositories can deliver treatments and drugs to produce both local and systemic impact.
